The Electoral Commission (EC) officially received the newly constructed Presidential Nominations and Tally Grounds in Lweza-Lubowa from the National Housing and Construction Company Limited (NHCCL), marking a significant milestone in Uganda’s preparations for the 2026 General Elections.

The handover ceremony was presided over by the EC Chairperson, Justice Simon Byabakama, the Minister for Works and Transport, Gen. Edward Katumba Wamala, and the Executive Director of National Housing, Eng. Kaijuka Kenneth.

Speaking at the event, Justice Byabakama commended the successful completion of the project and emphasized its critical role in ensuring efficiency, order, and transparency in the upcoming electoral process. He noted that the facility provides a modern and secure environment for handling presidential nominations and the tallying of votes, which are central to upholding electoral credibility.

Minister Katumba Wamala highlighted government’s commitment to strengthening electoral infrastructure as part of broader national development and democratic consolidation. He praised the partnership between EC and NHCCL, describing it as an example of effective collaboration between government agencies in service delivery.

On his part, Eng. Kaijuka Kenneth reaffirmed NHCCL’s dedication to delivering quality infrastructure that meets national priorities, underscoring that the project was executed with precision to support Uganda’s democratic journey.

The Lweza-Lubowa Presidential Nominations and Tally Grounds stand as a testament to Uganda’s determination to conduct free, fair, and transparent elections.
